Groove along with Freddy Pink at free MWNW concert

Posted: September 30, 2011 by Music Works Northwest in Events

The year’s first free First Friday Concert begins Oct. 7 at 7:30 pm. Will you be there?

Freddy Pink, the Northwest’s funkiest R & B band, returns with great covers of favorite funk and R & B hits from the last four decades, so you’re sure to know a tune! Every hit is performed with the power, soul and groove that only 5 horns and 4 rhythm players can deliver.

You won’t want to miss this one. Plan on gettin’ down because you won’t be able to hold still!

New fall classes posted; see what we’re so excited about!

Posted: August 10, 2011 by Music Works Northwest in Students

Yes, we know it’s not fall yet. We also know that summer started way too late in Seattle to even start thinking about fall classes and activities. Unfortunately, September will be here before we know it… But a great way to raise your spirits is to think about all the fun fall activities you’ll be doing!

Have you signed up for music lessons yet?

We just posted our new fall classes to our website and would like to feature just a few of our amazing offerings:

  • Rock Guitar: Exploring rock guitar from the classic to the contemporary. This Saturday class for 8- to 18-year-olds will get feet tapping and heads bopping to keep those school blues away!
  • O’Connor Method violin for children: In our last blog post, we talked about the Mark O’Connor violin teaching method. In addition to our violin teacher training workshop in September, we’re offering lessons for 3- to 8-year-olds, to really get a hand for the violin and bow.
  • Percussion Band: It’s back! In addition to our other percussion group classes, we’re offering a way for students in grades 4 through 8 to play together… It’s time to make those rock band dreams a reality!

And for adults, in addition to an array of private lessons, we offer a Guitar for Adults group lesson on Saturdays. No matter what instrument you’re interested in, you won’t be disappointed. There really is something for everyone!

New blog by Mark O’Connor explores the rich history of music

Have you ever seen the O’Connor Method books for violin, viola, cello and orchestra?

Well we’d like to tell you about a new blog, where Mark O’Connor himself posts about music history, which he found during his research for the O’Connor Method. Take a look at the New American School of String Playing to read and comment on these stories about the rich history of music!

And come by our website to find out about the fantastic workshop we’re planning in September: the Mark O’Connor Method violin teacher training workshop!

Find out more about the workshop, scheduled for Sept. 22-25, by going to the Mark O’Connor Method section on our website!
